On the right side of the Database screen on the desktop version (and below ADVANCED SEARCH on mobile devices), there are additional filters to refine your search. They are optional and if you do not select from them, they will default to the broadest search criteria, as shown in the image.
You may change any of them to best suit your search needs.
You may select by:
- Color
- Region
- Issue/[Personal] Notes
- Barrel and/or Bottle
- And for Burgundy and Champagne you will see the option of selecting a LEVEL (grand cru, 1er cru, village or regional).
Checkboxes provide further options: Click a checkbox to show only TOP VALUE, DON’T MISS, SWEET SPOT or DRINK NOW selections. If you check the DRINK NOW option, it is important to note the date of each review. If Allen said “drink now” in 2017, it is good to note. You may also choose to enter a MINIMUM SCORE.
Selecting the “Personal Notes” option
Since Burghound Issues focus primarily on current releases, by utilizing the PERSONAL NOTES option, collectors can find reviews in the Database on wines back to 1845. (The image at right will help.) When you scroll to the very bottom of the pulldown list for ISSUES, you will see PERSONAL NOTES. Select that option, then choose “Date tasted” under the SORT BY dropdown list. Notice that none of the reviews have an Issue number next to them. This indicates that it is a personal note. As of early 2021,there are over ~11,400 Personal Notes.
Again, please notice that there are no Issue numbers listed for wines Allen has reviewed outside of Burghound Issues.
AND REMEMBER: the BEGIN SEARCH and CLEAR SEARCH buttons on either side of the desktop screen work identically. Just use whichever is closest to your cursor!
